Our Dental Professionals Answer Your Questions

There is no need to spend hours scouring the internet for answers to some of the most common dental questions. Instead, you can review the following page to learn more about oral hygiene, dental procedures, payment options, and how we operate. If you do not see your inquiry listed below, please feel free to call our office.

Are children welcome in your office?

Yes! Dr. Skerl and Dr. Plucinsky are pleased to provide top-tier care for children and teens. Recognizing that their mouths are still growing and developing, it requires additional training and skills to identify problem areas early on. To avoid the potential for cavities, gum disease, and bite misalignment, we will closely monitor their teeth, gums, and bite so that we can make adjustments, if necessary, as early as possible.

What should I do if I knock out a tooth?

If you accidentally knock out a tooth, you’ll need to call our office right away. This will alert us to get you in for an appointment as quickly as we can. You’ll be instructed to retrieve the tooth if you can and bring it with you to your appointment. You can attempt to reinsert it into the socket or place it in a container of milk to keep the tooth moist and the roots viable.

How can I replace my missing teeth?

We are pleased to offer three options for missing teeth here at University Suburban Dental – dental implants, dentures, and dental bridges. Only an implant can rebuild a tooth from its root to the crown, but dentures and dental bridges remain popular options for patients looking for a less invasive option. During a consultation, our team will determine which one is right for you.

Do all patients need to have their wisdom teeth removed?

No, not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth extracted. Some erupt without any issues, settling in toward the back of the mouth with ease. However, in most cases, wisdom teeth removal is necessary, especially if you are suffering from a possible infection or damage to nearby healthy teeth. A thorough examination by our team will determine if you need to undergo this type of procedure.

I’m scared of visiting the dentist. What can you do to help?

We offer sedation dentistry to help patients who are scared of visiting the dentist. Our methods make it easy to reduce anxiety, ease nerves, and calm minds before any procedure so that our team of dentists can safely perform the desired treatment, delivering high-quality results.

Will you accept my dental insurance?

We will be happy to look over your plan so that you can make the right decision about your oral health. Our team will also file any claims on your behalf as a way to not only reduce the amount of stress you might feel about your upcoming procedures but also help you receive the maximum reimbursement.
